The Viktor-Frankl-Steig on the Hohe Wand is a classic and highly rewarding rock climbing route, not to be confused with a via ferrata despite its name. Graded UIAA V (or 5.7/5.8 YDS), it presents a moderately challenging multi-pitch ascent on excellent limestone. Climbers can expect varied terrain, including slabs, cracks, and some steeper sections, all while enjoying significant exposure and breathtaking panoramic views over the Vienna Basin and the Schneeberg-Rax massif. The route is generally well-bolted, making it a popular sport climbing destination. Named after the renowned psychiatrist and avid climber Viktor Frankl, this route offers both a physical challenge and a chance for reflection amidst stunning natural beauty. It requires solid lead climbing and multi-pitch experience.
