Overview

Grade: 5+

Climbing "Free Willi" (5+) in the Kaiser Mountains is a truly rewarding experience. The route, while not overly long, offers sustained climbing on excellent, often pocketed limestone. The initial pitches are relatively straightforward, but the crux pitch demands good technique and finger strength. Expect exposed moves and a feeling of airiness as you ascend. The views from the top are spectacular, encompassing the Wilder Kaiser's jagged peaks and the surrounding valleys. A solid head for heights and good route-finding skills are recommended. Remember to check weather conditions before heading out, as the Kaiser Mountains can be unpredictable. A classic Kaiser climb!
