Overview

Grade: 5

Climbing "Route: 6" (grade 5) in the Kaiser Mountains is a classic alpine experience. This route, while not exceedingly difficult, offers a taste of the rugged beauty and exposure the Kaiser is known for. Expect solid limestone, engaging climbing moves, and stunning views from the higher pitches. The approach can be demanding, as with many Kaiser routes, requiring good fitness. Route finding can be a challenge in places, so bringing a guidebook or being comfortable with route finding is essential. Adequate protection is necessary, as the bolt spacing can be somewhat run-out in certain sections. While a grade 5 may seem moderate, the alpine environment demands respect and careful planning. Be prepared for changing weather conditions, carry sufficient water and food, and consider your retreat options. Successfully topping out "Route: 6" rewards you with a feeling of accomplishment and unparalleled panoramic views of the surrounding valleys and peaks.
