Climbing "Home" (8-) in the Karwendel is an experience etched in my memory. The sheer scale of the rock face is initially daunting, a testament to the raw power of the Karwendel mountains. "Home" itself is a masterpiece of route finding. The first few pitches are technical and demanding, requiring precise footwork and thoughtful body positioning on surprisingly small holds. The rock is generally solid, but the occasional loose patch keeps you on your toes. As you ascend, the exposure intensifies, the views becoming increasingly panoramic. The higher you get, the more the feeling of solitude and accomplishment washes over you. Reaching the summit after a long day felt incredibly rewarding, a true sense of 'home' in this wild, alpine environment. It's a route that demands respect, both for its physical challenge and the beauty of the surroundings. A must-do for any experienced multi-pitch climber looking for a Karwendel classic.
