The Raue Wand on Kleines Häuslhorn in the Reiteralpe region offers a truly classic alpine climbing experience. Known for its twelve routes, many of which fall into the 6 to 6+ UIAA grade range, it's a perfect destination for climbers seeking challenging yet accessible limestone adventures. The climbing here is typical of the Reiteralpe: steep but often featured limestone, offering a mix of cracks, slabs, and sometimes slightly overhanging sections. The 'rough' nature of the wall lives up to its name, providing excellent friction but also demanding precise footwork and good finger strength. One of the most striking aspects is the breathtaking exposure and the panoramic views of the surrounding Berchtesgaden Alps. The routes are generally well-equipped with bolts, but an alpine mindset is still crucial, given the length of the pitches and the overall environment. Conquering a 6/6+ route on the Raue Wand is incredibly rewarding, combining physical exertion with a profound connection to nature. It's an unforgettable day out in a magnificent setting.
