But holding on, finding that precarious balance, unlocked the passage. The remaining pitches, though sustained and technical, felt more manageable, fueled by adrenaline and the satisfaction of overcoming the crux. Reaching the top, the valley unfolded below, a panorama of green and grey. A perfect day, etched forever in memory. 'Fledermaus' - conquered, but never forgotten.
