Climbing 'DEASY' in the Lake Garda Mountains is an experience etched in my memory. At grade 8- (French grading, equivalent to around 5.13a in Yosemite Decimal System), it's a route that demands both physical power and intricate technique. The rock, typical of the area, is incredibly compact limestone, offering a mix of sharp crimps, powerful pulls, and delicate foot placements. Finding the right body position is crucial; every movement needs to be efficient to conserve energy. The crux section, often described as a powerful sequence on small holds leading to a tricky traverse, truly tests your limit. The exposure adds another layer of intensity – the stunning views of Lake Garda sprawling below are breathtaking, but you need to stay focused. Successfully clipping the chains on 'DEASY' is a rewarding feeling, a testament to months of training and perseverance. It's not just a climb; it's a battle fought and won against gravity and your own mental limitations.
