Rock Climbing
Climbing 'Východní hranka' (East Ridge) at Malý Vlčtejn is a classic and enjoyable route, perfect for beginner to intermediate climbers. Rated a grade 3 (UIAA scale), it offers a good introduction to multi-pitch climbing with moderate difficulty. The rock is typically solid, providing reliable holds, and the views from the top are rewarding.
The route generally involves scrambling up easier sections interspersed with short, steeper pitches that require some actual climbing. Protection is usually good, with well-placed bolts and opportunities for placing your own gear in cracks where necessary. While the grade suggests relative ease, it's essential to be comfortable with belaying techniques, rope management, and reading the route. A competent leader can often link pitches together, making for a faster ascent. Overall, 'Východní hranka' is a popular choice for experiencing the beauty of Malý Vlčtejn from a unique perspective and is a worthwhile climb for those seeking a fun and accessible adventure.

Rules
The area is on private land. Due to the poor condition of the castle ruins above the rocks, the owner warns that entry is at your own risk and does not recommend it due to possible falling stones from the castle.
The ČHS rules for Czech rock areas and the local regional commission's rules apply: do not alter the rock or holds, do not climb on wet rock, and follow ČHS principles for first ascents.
