Climbing "Vyjolete Fršnajdunk" (5-) in Rathen is a classic Saxon experience. The route, while not particularly difficult in terms of technical grade, demands respect due to the nature of Rathen sandstone. Expect exposed positions, runout sections typical of the area, and the need for careful gear placement in often dubious cracks. The rock itself can be polished in places, and the holds, while generally positive, require careful footwork. Successfully navigating the route requires not just physical ability but also mental fortitude and a good understanding of Saxon climbing techniques. The summit provides stunning views of the Bastei and the Elbe valley, making the effort worthwhile. Remember to bring a good selection of slings and cams for protection, and always climb with a competent partner.
