Plosky

Climbing "Plosky" (grade 7) in Sokol, Ukraine was an incredible experience. The route is known for its sustained, technical climbing on often-slick, granite-like rock. From the ground, the face looks daunting, a sea of small crimps and subtle features. The initial section involves a series of delicate traverses, requiring precise footwork and core strength to maintain balance. A crux section mid-route demands a powerful move to a small, sloping hold, followed by a desperate reach to a slightly better one. Managing the rope drag becomes increasingly crucial as you ascend, and clipping efficiently is key to preserving energy. Reaching the anchor offers a sense of immense accomplishment, a reward for the physical and mental exertion. The views from the top, overlooking the surrounding forest and mountains, are simply breathtaking, making all the effort worthwhile. It's a climb that will test your skills and leave you with a lasting memory.
