Climbing "Dornröschen" in the Vienna Woods was an unforgettable experience. The route, a solid 9- (7b+), demanded every ounce of my skill and determination. The sharp limestone offered just enough friction, and the delicate balance between power and precision was key. The initial overhang tested my strength right off the bat, followed by a series of technical crimps and slopers that required careful footwork. Finding the rests was crucial to conserve energy for the crux – a committing move off a bad hold to a shallow pocket. The exposure added to the mental challenge, with the lush Vienna Woods stretching out below. Sending it felt incredible, a testament to hard work and a deep connection with the rock. "Dornröschen" is a true test piece and a rewarding climb in a beautiful setting.
