Climbing "Dornröschen" (Sleeping Beauty) in the Vienna Woods is a delightful experience, even if it's a relatively modest grade 5+ (UIAA). The route, nestled amongst the lush foliage, offers a surprising variety of holds and movement for its length. Expect some crimps, perhaps a small roof, and a good dose of enjoyable slab climbing. The rock quality is generally excellent, providing solid friction. The crux is often figuring out the sequence rather than brute strength. The atmosphere is what really makes this climb special; the dappled sunlight filtering through the trees creates a peaceful and immersive experience. While it's not the most challenging climb you'll ever do, "Dornröschen" is a perfect introduction to the climbing in the Vienna Woods and a very satisfying send for any climber comfortable at the grade.
