Our recent trip to the Wetterstein Mountains and Mieminger Chain was highlighted by a delightful ascent of 'Leo', a classic Grade 3 climb. Setting out early, the crisp mountain air and stunning scenery immediately invigorated us. The approach itself was a beautiful hike through alpine meadows, gradually giving way to rockier terrain. 'Leo' proved to be a thoroughly enjoyable experience. While not technically demanding, it required sustained sure-footedness and a good head for heights in places. We navigated a series of rocky steps and short scrambling sections, always rewarded by increasingly spectacular panoramic views of the surrounding peaks, including the majestic Zugspitze. Reaching the summit was a pure joy, a moment of triumph amidst the vastness of the Alps. The descent followed a well-marked, though still engaging, path, allowing us to fully appreciate the landscape from a different perspective. A refreshing stop at a charming mountain hut completed our perfect day in these magnificent mountains.
