Rope Length: 60m

The '2nd Chance' route, a fantastic 7- (UIAA scale) climb in the majestic Wetterstein Mountains, truly lives up to its name – offering a second opportunity to immerse oneself in pure alpine rock climbing bliss. The approach itself, winding through lush meadows and up towards the formidable limestone walls, builds anticipation. Once on the rock, the multi-pitch ascent unfolds as a series of engaging challenges. The limestone here is typically excellent: grippy, often sharp, demanding precise footwork and confident moves. Pitches vary from technical slabs and vertical sections to exposed traverses that offer breathtaking views of the surrounding peaks, including the iconic Zugspitze, and the sprawling alpine valleys below. Despite the '7-' grade, it feels sustained, a true test of endurance and technique. Every exposed move, every successful clip, adds to the sense of accomplishment. Reaching the top, bathed in sunlight and surrounded by the vastness of the Alps, is a moment of pure exhilaration. The descent, often long but equally scenic, provides ample time to reflect on the beauty and challenge of this Wetterstein classic. '2nd Chance' is more than just a climb; it's an unforgettable alpine adventure.
