The Venediger Group in the western Hohe Tauern, between East Tyrol and Salzburg, is a realm of glaciers centred on the Großvenediger (3,657 m), one of the classic high-alpine summits of the Eastern Alps. Rock climbing here mostly means crystalline walls and slabs in a high-mountain setting, such as the east pillar of the Bärenkopf and the Bärenkopfplatten, the Fürther Eck or the Daberspitze. At the foot of the Maurer glacier lies the Kletterpark Großvenediger, and the local Venediger mountain guides built the Türmljoch via ferrata.
The East Tyrolean side is reached via the Virgental and Prägraten, with huts serving as bases for the longer tours. Snow and fast weather changes make this a summer area – the season runs mainly from June to August.
Part of Tyrol, Venediger Group has 5 via ferrata routes documented on climbing.place. Routes are listed below with difficulty and community notes.
