The "Klettersteig der 24er Hochgebirgsjäger - Galitzenklamm" is a thrilling and challenging via ferrata located in the Galitzenklamm gorge near Lienz, Austria. Rated a D, this climb is not for beginners. It demands good physical fitness, excellent head for heights, and confident climbing skills. The via ferrata is dedicated to the mountain infantry soldiers (Hochgebirgsjäger) of the 24th division. Expect steep sections, exposed traverses, and demanding vertical climbs. Some sections require significant upper body strength. The wire rope is well maintained, but the natural rock offers limited foot holds, adding to the challenge. The views within the gorge are spectacular, however, providing ample reward for the effort. Be prepared for potential water spray, especially after rainfall. Proper equipment, including a helmet, harness, and via ferrata set, is essential. Experienced climbers only are advised to tackle this route.
