Důlní via ferrata Pepř, Jílové u Prahy – Pepř C

Pepř mine near Jílové u Prahy now has Czechia’s first underground via ferrata. You enter through the Václav adit at Žampach. They hand you a helmet, headlamp and ferrata kit, you walk about a kilometre underground, ride a short stretch on the mine train, then climb a raise of roughly seventy metres up to the Upper Level. Up there you’ll see UV-lit calcite, a stope from Charles IV’s time, and the huge Koryto chamber — one of the pillars even shows visible gold.

How the visit runs: from the Václav portal on foot to the train, train to the Pepř shaft, climb the second raise on the Šlojíř vein (easier at first, then two near-vertical steps), explore the upper level, then descend by ladders and stairs. The whole tour takes about three hours; groups are capped at twelve.
