Prague and Central Bohemia have no single big rock town – crags and quarries line mainly the valleys of the Vltava, Sázava and Berounka and their tributaries. The largest area is the Middle Vltava (Roviště, Skály u Velké, Lomy nad Velkou, Kamýk, Solenice), followed by the Lower and Middle Sázava with the Prosečnice quarries and the crags at Kácov, Český Šternberk and Ledečko, the Kolín region with Pašinka and Vlčí důl, the Kutná Hora region with the Skály na Vrchlici right by the town, the Křivoklát region with Přílepská skála and Vraní skála, and the Brdy with Čertovy skály near Černolice and Černá skála near Řevnice.
In Prague itself you climb on the well-bolted Branické skály, also good for multi-pitch practice, and on Borová skála; the Hlubočepské plotny have sparse protection and are only for the bold. Outside the city, the Skály u Zákolan suit beginners, the cliffs at Řež offer the most interesting trad climbing around Prague, and bouldering is mainly in Divoká Šárka. Sport climbing on vertical walls dominates in the quarries and valleys, while the Křivoklát and Brdy crags are more trad with your own cams. Some crags lie in protected areas – check current restrictions with the Czech Mountaineering Association.

- No climbing on wet rock – after rain or in winter this can mean hours or days.
