Seb Bouin's Croatian Achievement

French climber Seb Bouin has made the first ascent of Vidra La Vida (9b/+), establishing the hardest sport climb in Croatia. The route is located on the island of Hvar and consists of two pitches, with the first pitch (Vidra, 9a) bolted by Klemen Bećan. Bouin climbed Vidra in early May and immediately began working on the extension.

The full line features powerful, long moves and a 360° spin crux sequence, estimated to be around 8A/V11 boulder difficulty. Bouin described the climb as one of his top five 9b/5.15b routes worldwide, emphasizing its beauty and challenge. The route starts with an 8c+ section, leading into a 9a crux, followed by the wild 360° crux, and finishing with an 8b+/c section.

Bouin faced brutal heat during his attempts and even considered giving up after falling on the final jug. However, a cool north wind provided the perfect conditions for him to push through and complete the ascent.

This climb marks another milestone for Bouin, who has been pushing the limits of sport climbing worldwide.
