Scottish climber William Bosi made history by completing the second ascent of Excalibur, a 9b+ sport climbing route in Arco, Italy. Originally bolted by Cristian Dorigatti and Morris Fontanari, the route was first climbed by Stefano Ghisolfi in February 2023, marking it as Italy’s hardest climb.

Unlike many other extreme routes, Excalibur is short but brutally intense, demanding immense power and precision on tiny crimps. Bosi spent 21 sessions working on the climb, refining his beta and battling through challenging conditions. His breakthrough came exactly two years after Ghisolfi’s first ascent, making him the first British climber to conquer the grade.
