Rope Length: 70m

Climbing the renowned multi-pitch route 'One Night in Rostock' (Grade 7, UIAA) on the Wetterkreuzwand in Carinthia's majestic Hohe Tauern region was an alpine experience par excellence. Despite its whimsical name, there's nothing casual about this climb. Spanning approximately 400 meters over 10 to 12 pitches, it relentlessly tests skill and nerve.

The route traverses sections of exposed slabs, intricate crack systems, and delicate friction climbing on solid gneiss. The sustained nature of the difficulties, particularly the cruxy, often-overlooked seventh pitch, demands concentration and precise footwork. Every move feels exposed, with breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding Glockner Group unfolding with each meter gained.

The ascent is a dance between mental fortitude and physical endurance. The crisp mountain air, the vast silence, and the sheer scale of the Wetterkreuzwand create an immersive environment. Reaching the top, after hours of continuous climbing, is not just about conquering a route but about a deep connection with the alpine world. The descent, often as demanding as the climb, brings a profound sense of accomplishment and the lingering memory of an unforgettable day high in the Carinthian Alps.
