The Kanzelsteig and Technikersteig combo on the Hohe Wand offers a classic and highly rewarding climbing experience, perfectly suited for those seeking accessible adventure with a grade of 2+. Located just south of Vienna, the Hohe Wand is a beloved destination for climbers and hikers alike.

We typically start with the Kanzelsteig, known for its breathtaking panoramic views. This route, while requiring a head for heights and sure-footedness, is not overly technical. It winds its way up through rocky terrain, often secured with steel cables and occasional ladders, providing stunning vistas over the Vienna Basin and towards the Schneeberg and Rax mountain ranges. The exposure is exhilarating but manageable, making it a fantastic introduction to more challenging routes.

After reaching the Kanzel, a prominent viewpoint, we often descend via the Technikersteig. This alternative route offers a slightly different character, perhaps a bit steeper and more direct in parts, sometimes featuring more vertical ladder sections. It's a brisk and efficient way to complete the loop, adding variety to the overall experience without significantly increasing the technical difficulty.

The entire circuit is immensely satisfying. It’s a perfect half-day outing that combines the thrill of a via ferrata with beautiful alpine scenery. The return typically involves a pleasant hike on well-marked forest trails, leading back to the starting point or a nearby hut. This combination of Klettersteige provides an unforgettable day in the Hohe Wand, ideal for those looking to expand their climbing repertoire in a safe and spectacular setting.
