The ascent of 'Gnomo Dolomitico,' a captivating Grade 5 route nestled within the stunning Lake Garda Mountains, offers a quintessential climbing experience. This route, though moderate in difficulty, presents engaging pitches over excellent limestone, characteristic of the region's unique blend of pre-Alpine and Dolomitic rock. We traversed a mix of slabby sections, a few enjoyable cracks, and solid corners, all while soaking in breathtaking panoramic views of Lake Garda shimmering below and the surrounding rugged peaks. The exposure on certain sections adds a thrilling dimension without being overwhelming. Protection is generally good, making it a safe and rewarding climb for those comfortable at the grade. Reaching the summit after a few hours of enjoyable vertical progress felt incredibly satisfying. The descent, often a simple walk-off or a couple of abseils, smoothly brings you back to the valley, leaving you with lasting memories of a truly classic Garda climb.
