Overview

Grade: 3

Climbing 'Mauerblümchen' (Grade 3) on the 'Schwarze Platte' was a truly delightful experience. This route, despite its humble name 'Wallflower,' offers a surprisingly engaging and scenic ascent, perfect for those venturing into multi-pitch climbing or simply looking for a beautiful day out on the rock.

The climb itself, graded 3 (UIAA scale, typically), is very approachable. It features a fantastic mix of easy slabs, well-structured cracks, and comfortable ledges, providing ample hand and footholds. The rock quality on Schwarze Platte is excellent, offering reassuring friction and solid placements. We moved steadily upwards, enjoying the exposure without feeling overwhelmed, and taking in the increasingly expansive views of the surrounding valleys and peaks. Each pitch offered its own charm, from sun-drenched rock to small, intricate moves that felt satisfying to execute.

Reaching the top was incredibly rewarding. The panoramic vista from the summit was breathtaking, a perfect reward for our efforts. We spent some time soaking in the views, sharing snacks, and simply enjoying the tranquility of being high up in the mountains.

The return was straightforward and equally enjoyable. From the summit, a well-marked hiking path leads gently down through a scenic forest, eventually looping back to the base of the climbing area. This pleasant walk-off allowed us to continue enjoying the natural beauty and reflect on the successful ascent of 'Mauerblümchen.' It's an absolute gem – an accessible, beautiful, and highly recommended route for anyone looking for a memorable climbing adventure on Schwarze Platte.
