Our recent alpine adventure led us to the majestic Gletscherseeplatten, specifically to tackle the classic 'Jubiläumshunderter' route. Graded at III, this climb offers a fantastic experience on solid granite slabs. The approach, though initially steep, quickly rewards with stunning vistas. Each of the several pitches provided engaging climbing, characterized by excellent friction and well-defined features. The Grade III felt perfectly pitched, offering a continuous flow without overwhelming difficulty, yet demanding precision. Reaching the top, we were greeted by panoramic views of jagged peaks, glistening glaciers, and the serene Gletschersee below – an absolutely breathtaking reward. The descent, primarily involving a series of well-placed rappels, was efficient and brought us safely back. 'Jubiläumshunderter' is undoubtedly a highly recommended alpine rock climb, a true classic that lives up to its celebratory name.
