Riss

Climbing 'Riss' (literally 'Crack' in German) at Untere Lausbubenwand is a classic experience. This route, graded 7- (UIAA), offers a sustained and engaging climb that primarily follows, as the name suggests, a prominent crack system. The rock is generally solid, though some sections can be polished from years of traffic. The crux often involves mastering the crack technique, demanding solid jamming or stemming to progress. Good footwork is crucial throughout, especially in the more strenuous sections. The route requires a good rack of cams and stoppers to protect the various crack sizes. While not overly long, 'Riss' demands respect and provides a rewarding sense of accomplishment upon reaching the top.
