Climbing the 'Dachverschneidung' (6-) in the Vienna Woods is a rewarding experience. The route, even at its relatively moderate grade, offers a taste of classic alpine-style climbing within easy reach of the city. The rock, often textured limestone, provides good friction, but can also be polished in places due to its popularity. The 'Dachverschneidung' features a distinct roof-like overhang (hence the name, 'Roof Intersection') that requires careful footwork and body positioning. Maintaining balance is key to navigating this section smoothly. Above the roof, the climbing generally eases off, but still demands attention to holds and placement.
