Today I tackled 'Eiertanz,' a grade 7 (UIAA) climb in the beautiful Vienna Woods. The name, meaning 'Egg Dance' in German, hints at the delicate and precise movements required. The route lived up to its reputation! The crux involved a tricky sequence of crimps and high steps, demanding both power and careful footwork. The rock was mostly solid limestone, offering good friction, but some holds were definitely polished from years of climbers. The exposure added to the excitement, with stunning views opening up as I gained altitude. Clipping the anchors at the top brought a huge sense of satisfaction. It was a challenging climb, requiring mental focus and physical endurance, but the reward of conquering 'Eiertanz' in such a picturesque setting was well worth the effort. Definitely a route I'd recommend to experienced climbers looking for a test in the Vienna Woods.
