Climbing "Long Drive" (grade 7) in the Vienna Woods was a true test of endurance and technique. The route name is fitting, as it feels like a long, sustained sequence of powerful moves on relatively small holds. The initial overhang required some strong pulling and precise footwork to navigate past the bulge. Once over the lip, the angle relents slightly, but the holds become even more crimpy, demanding careful body positioning and efficient weight transfer. The mental game was just as challenging as the physical one, constantly pushing through the burning forearms and maintaining focus on the subtle beta. Reaching the top was incredibly satisfying, a testament to perseverance and a rewarding experience in a beautiful natural setting. The rough texture of the rock provided good friction, but also chewed on the skin a bit, adding to the overall feeling of a demanding yet rewarding climb.
