Besler Klettersteig: A Taste of the Allgäu Alps
Climbing the Besler Klettersteig is a fantastic introduction to via ferratas in the Allgäu Alps. Rated A/B, it's generally considered beginner-friendly but still offers plenty of exposure and stunning views. The route is relatively short, making it a perfect half-day adventure, and easily accessible from the valley.
The climb itself features a good mix of ladders, iron rungs, and secured cables, allowing you to traverse exposed sections and conquer short vertical walls. While the difficulty is manageable, especially for those with some hiking experience and a decent head for heights, it's important to be properly equipped with a via ferrata set, helmet, and sturdy hiking boots. The views from the top, overlooking the Allgäu valleys and surrounding peaks, are absolutely worth the effort. You'll be rewarded with a panoramic vista that makes the climb a truly memorable experience. Remember to check weather conditions before heading out, as the Klettersteig can become slippery when wet. Enjoy the adventure and respect the mountain!
