The Via Kapf - Klettersteig is renowned as one of Austria's most demanding via ferratas, graded a formidable D/E. Located on the Kapf mountain near Bürs in Vorarlberg, it presents a serious challenge even for experienced climbers. This klettersteig is characterized by its extreme exposure, steep vertical sections, and even slightly overhanging passages that demand significant arm strength and a strong head for heights. It's a continuous workout, with few opportunities for rest on the most difficult parts. Climbers can expect a relentless ascent, well-secured with steel cables, plentiful iron rungs, and some ladders, but the sheer difficulty remains. The reward for tackling such a demanding route is breathtaking panoramic views over the Brandnertal, Walgau valley, and the surrounding Rätikon and Silvretta mountains. Due to its high difficulty, the Via Kapf is absolutely not suitable for beginners and requires previous experience with D-grade via ferratas, excellent physical condition, and unwavering mental fortitude. It promises an unforgettable and thrilling experience for those up to the task.
