The Bärenlochsteig is a fantastic introduction to via ferrata climbing, classified as Grade A (or very easy). This makes it perfect for beginners or families with older children seeking their first taste of the vertical world. The route predominantly consists of well-secured, slightly inclined paths with occasional iron rungs and ladders to aid ascent. There's minimal exposure and no particularly challenging sections, allowing climbers to focus on enjoying the scenery and the unique experience of moving along a rock face. A significant portion of the trail winds through a beautiful, shady forest, offering a welcome respite from the sun. Although Grade A implies simplicity, wearing appropriate equipment like a harness, helmet, and via ferrata set is still crucial for safety. The Bärenlochsteig provides a safe and enjoyable introduction to via ferratas and is a great day out in nature.
