The "Via Ferrata Rino Pisetta" (grade E) is an exceptionally challenging and highly exposed via ferrata located in the Sarca Valley, overlooking Lake Garda. Renowned as one of Italy's most difficult routes, it demands not only a solid head for heights but also significant upper body strength and endurance.
Rated 'E' (Extremely Difficult), Pisetta ascends almost entirely vertically, often featuring steep slabs and even slightly overhanging sections that require sustained arm work. There are very few natural footholds, meaning progression relies heavily on the steel cable and artificial steps, making it a true test of athleticism. The exposure is relentless, offering breathtaking, albeit dizzying, panoramic views of Lake Garda glittering below and the surrounding mountains.
This ferrata is definitely not for beginners or those prone to vertigo. It requires prior experience on difficult routes, excellent physical condition, and proper via ferrata equipment, including good gloves. The reward for tackling this formidable ascent is an immense sense of accomplishment and unforgettable vistas from high above Arco and the valley. The descent typically involves a steep, sometimes challenging hiking path back down. A true classic for the experienced alpinist seeking a serious vertical adventure.
