Ferrata Volturara - Mulo, a challenging Via Ferrata near Campo di Giove in Abruzzo, Italy, is not for the faint of heart. Graded E/F, it pushes the limits of what many consider 'extreme.' The route is characterized by sheer, exposed vertical walls, demanding powerful arms and exceptional mental fortitude. The rock is often smooth and requires precise foot placement. Long sections are sustained and continuously overhanging, testing endurance to the absolute maximum. While the views are breathtaking, offering panoramic vistas of the surrounding mountains, they are often best enjoyed from the rare, small ledges where you can catch your breath and contemplate the next seemingly impossible move. This ferrata should only be attempted by experienced climbers with significant experience on challenging via ferratas and a solid understanding of their own physical limits. Proper equipment, including a dynamic lanyard and helmet, is absolutely essential. Be prepared for a strenuous physical and mental battle – conquering Ferrata Volturara - Mulo is a significant achievement.
