Climbing the Ferrata Drachenwand (var. C/D) was an unforgettable experience, particularly focusing on the C-rated sections which presented a significant but manageable challenge. Located in the picturesque Salzkammergut region of Austria, this via ferrata is renowned for its exposure and breathtaking views. The Grade C sections involved sustained vertical climbing, often on exposed rock faces, relying on steel cables, iron rungs, and ladders. It demanded good physical condition, a steady hand, and a solid head for heights. The feeling of exposure was constant, but it was beautifully contrasted by the panoramic vistas of Lake Mondsee and the surrounding alpine landscape. Reaching the summit offered a tremendous sense of accomplishment. The return journey, typically a marked hiking trail, was a lengthy descent that required careful navigation, allowing time to reflect on the exhilaration of the climb. It was a truly rewarding adventure, combining athletic challenge with stunning natural beauty.
