Camilla Moroni climbed Dreamcatcher (9a) in Squamish, British Columbia, on 24 September 2026. It is her first 9a. She is the third woman on Chris Sharma’s line, after Paige Claassen and Michaela Kiersch in 2021, and the first Italian.
Sharma first ascended the route in 2005. It is about ten bolts: a technical slab, precise locks, then powerful moves on slopers and crimps, with a campus crux high up. Moroni is 25. Her hardest route before this was 8b+. She needed about ten sessions. For four of them she fell at the last crux; small beta changes got her through on the send. She said the feeling on top was relief, not the rush she knows from competitions.
Earlier she had been on Histoire sans Fin (8b+) in Valais and the Pre-Muir Wall on El Capitan with Pietro Vidi. She has said she did not think a 9a was realistic until attempts on Meltdown in Yosemite changed her mind.
