Petit Jean Via Ferrata opened on 7 August 2026 in Petit Jean State Park, Arkansas — currently the only via ferrata in a U.S. state park. Run by Frontier Climbing Company with Arkansas State Parks.

The guided route under Palisades Overlook runs ~0.45 mi / 0.7 km with 100+ ft (30+ m) exposure, a suspension bridge, sky ladder and aerial sections. Guided only (max 5 per guide), age 12+. Check in at Mather Lodge, then to the dedicated VF parking. First seven weeks: ~65 trips / 140 guests (KVOM, 25 Sep).
