The Kokořín region (Kokořínsko) is a landscape of deep wooded valleys with sandstone towers and walls between Mělník, Mšeno and Česká Lípa. climbing.place lists almost 10,000 routes in 30 sub-areas. The firmest rock is in Roklice and the Loubenský potok valley; Kokořínský důl, Planý důl, Rač and Vlhošť with Stříbrný vrch are also popular.

Climbing on pockets is typical. The rock is mostly very fragile and protection is sparse – few rings far apart with slings, knots and "UFOs" in between – and on some routes a shoulder stand is the key move.

Rules

  • No metal protection (cams, nuts) – rings, slings, knots and "UFOs" only.
  • Climb ground-up only; top-roping is banned.
  • Parties of no more than 5 climbers.
  • No abseiling from trees or bushes.
  • No climbing on wet, snowy or icy rock – the rock is fragile, climb only when fully dry.
  • The ČHS sandstone rules apply (no chalk).
