Climbing 'Zauberlehrling' (5+) in the Gletscherseeplatten is a truly memorable alpine experience. This multi-pitch route offers exceptional slab climbing on superb friction rock, characteristic of the region. Each of its pitches provides engaging movement, generally good protection, and increasingly breathtaking views of the surrounding high alpine landscape and the glacial lake below. While graded 5+, it demands confident leading at the level and offers sustained, rewarding climbing that feels much grander than a simple sport climb. The exposure is palpable, adding to the exhilaration. Reaching the top is incredibly satisfying, with the descent typically involving a series of rappels back down the route, completing a fantastic day out in the mountains.
