Climbing 'Sid,' a Grade 4 route on the 'Kids - Ice Age Wall,' was an exhilarating experience. Donning our crampons and gripping our ice axes, we approached the formidable-looking pillar. The climb truly lives up to its Grade 4 rating, offering sustained vertical sections that demand precise technique and strong, confident placements. The ice quality was excellent, providing satisfying 'thunks' with each swing and reassuring purchase for the crampons. While challenging, the route offers enough varied terrain and occasional good rests to make it manageable for those comfortable with the grade. The 'Ice Age' theme of the wall, with its sculpted features, adds a unique, playful element to the climb, making it feel like a real expedition. Reaching the summit of 'Sid' was incredibly rewarding, a testament to focus and perseverance, and a fantastic way to push our ice climbing skills further.
