The Bucklige Welt – the "humpbacked world" of rolling hills south of Vienna between the Wechsel and the Rosalia range – is a quiet climbing area with many small crags scattered through woods and meadows. Best known is the Türkensturz (610 m) above Gleißenfeld near Seebenstein, crowned by a ruin: its Falkensteig (grade 2, about 160 m) is a short, varied climb for beginners over several towers, some steep and exposed, with fixed thread anchors at the harder sections and trees for belays. Other crags such as the Zyklamwandl or the rocks near Scheiblingkirchen offer short sport routes in a rural setting.
The Türkensturz is reached from the A2 exit Seebenstein on the B54 towards Gleißenfeld; from the Türkensturz hikers' car park (362 m) it is about 20 minutes on the "Türkensturz steil" path. Thanks to the low altitude, spring and autumn are the best seasons; mossy sections can be very slippery when wet.
Part of Lower Austria, Bucklige Welt has 2 via ferrata routes documented on climbing.place. Routes are listed below with difficulty and community notes.
