Via Ferrata in Vorarlberg

25 ferratas
4 areas
A/B–D/E grades

Vorarlberg, Austria's westernmost state between Lake Constance and the Arlberg, offers a compact mix of limestone and crystalline rock. In the north, the Bregenzerwald is known for the crags of Au-Schnepfau, around 30 routes from 3+ to 10 on steep limestone; further south, the Rätikon along the Swiss border has long alpine limestone walls, and the Silvretta adds gneiss peaks and glaciers around the Piz Buin. The Lechquellen Mountains near the Arlberg complete the picture with remote alpine routes.

The Rhine valley towns of Bregenz, Dornbirn and Feldkirch are good bases, with short drives into the valleys. Lower crags are climbable from spring to autumn, while the Rätikon and Silvretta are mainly climbed in summer.

Part of Austria, Vorarlberg has 25 via ferrata routes documented on climbing.place. Explore its 4 areas below.
