Climbing the Terza Cengia del Pomagagnon, a via ferrata graded A/B, is a thrilling experience that combines stunning Dolomite scenery with a manageable, yet engaging, challenge. The 'Terza Cengia' (Third Ledge) refers to the prominent ledge system it traverses across the Pomagagnon mountain. This makes the route relatively horizontal, differing from more vertical and physically demanding ferratas. While not overly strenuous, a good head for heights and surefootedness are essential. Expect exposed traverses with breathtaking views over Cortina d'Ampezzo and the surrounding peaks. The ferrata consists primarily of walking along the ledge, with occasional short, steeper sections aided by ladders and cables. The A/B grading indicates that it's suitable for experienced hikers with some via ferrata experience, but beginners should consider starting with an easier route first. The sense of accomplishment and the incredible panoramic vistas make the Terza Cengia a memorable climb in the Dolomites.
