Climbing 'Peca - Pot čez južno steno' (Route over the South Face) offers a wonderfully accessible introduction to the alpine world. Graded A/B, this route on the majestic Peca (known as Petzen in German) is among the easiest via ferratas, making it ideal for beginners, families, or anyone seeking a scenic adventure with minimal technical difficulty. The ascent gracefully traverses the mountain's south face, unveiling breathtaking panoramic vistas of the surrounding Karavanke mountains and lush valleys below. While protected by a continuous steel cable, the exposure is very mild, and the path often feels more like an exhilarating, well-secured hiking trail than a challenging climb. It's a fantastic way to build confidence on protected routes and deeply connect with the stunning natural beauty of the region without requiring specialized climbing skills. For safety and comfort, sturdy hiking boots, a helmet, and a basic via ferrata set (harness and lanyard) are recommended, although the route is exceptionally forgiving. Upon reaching the summit, various well-marked hiking trails provide easy descent options, completing a truly rewarding day in the mountains.
