The Ascent Details
On March 3, 2026, Swiss mountaineer and paragliding enthusiast Yannick Glatthard successfully completed a remarkable "fly-and-climb" first ascent. He flew his paraglider to the base of the climb, scaled a virgin line rope-solo, and then flew back down.
The Inspiration
Glatthard initially spotted the small but striking icefall on the impressive south face of the Tällistock in February while paragliding on a day with good thermals. Unable to convince his friends to join him (as they preferred to go skiing that day), he decided to tackle the project alone.
The Approach (The "Fly")
To access the climb, Glatthard took the cable car up to Planplatten (2,200m) and launched his paraglider around midday. He used thermals to quickly gain altitude, reaching 2,600 meters. This altitude was crucial not only for crossing the valley to the Tällistock but also to ensure he strictly stayed above the 2,000-meter mark to respect the local wildlife protection code.
The Climb
After landing at the base of the route, Glatthard switched gears to alpinism. He rope-soloed the 125-meter mixed line, which features demanding dry tooling and steep ice, grading it at a stout WI5, M8. He named the new route 'Get the Vibe'.
The Descent
Following the successful first ascent, he packed up his climbing gear, unpacked his wing, and flew back down into the valley, completing the ultimate modern multi-sport alpine linkup.
