The air was crisp at Sektor Winkel as we geared up, gazing up at 'Regenschicht,' a route that always promised a unique challenge at grade 7. Its name, 'Rain Layer,' seemed to whisper tales of slick, technical moves, and true to form, it delivered a thoughtful ascent. The initial moves felt surprisingly welcoming, lulling you into a rhythm before the real work began. The crux, tucked away in a subtle corner feature, demanded precision footwork and a commitment to small holds. Each clip was a mini-victory, the rock texture changing under my fingertips as I pushed through sections requiring more power than finesse. Reaching the anchor, arms pleasantly pumped but spirits high, was a fantastic feeling. The view from the top, looking down into the 'Winkel,' was a perfect reward for a well-fought climb.
