Today, the crisp alpine air beckoned us to the heart of the Upper Austrian Prealps. Our objective: 'Diagonale,' a renowned classic graded UIAA IV. This route, while not extreme, perfectly encapsulates the joy of accessible alpine rock climbing. Ascending its well-defined diagonal line, we found ourselves on solid limestone, enjoying consistently good holds and just enough exposure to add a thrill. The views opening up behind us, across the verdant valleys and distant peaks of the Prealps, were simply breathtaking. Each pitch offered flowing movement and a sense of timeless adventure. Reaching the top, the panoramic vistas were our reward, a testament to a perfectly spent day high above the world. 'Diagonale' is more than just a climb; it's an experience – a beautiful journey through the heart of these majestic mountains.
