Climbing at Lechtal Alps

41 routes
19 areas
3–7+ grades

The Lechtal Alps are the largest range of the Northern Limestone Alps in Tyrol, stretching between the Lech valley and the Inn valley around Imst and Landeck. For climbers, the southern edge above Imst is the most interesting part: sunny sport crags such as those near Karres and Nassereith, shadier ones at Walchenbach and Putzen, with sport routes mostly from grade 4 to 7, and the Muttekopf area above Imst with its hut. The south face of the Hintere Platteinspitze offers several long routes of up to 20 pitches, among them "Plattenzauber", a favourite of many climbers, and the area also has popular via ferratas such as the Imster Klettersteig.

Imst in the Inn valley is the main base, with good road and rail connections; the Muttekopfhütte serves as a base for the higher routes. The region is known for its many sunny days; low crags can be climbed from spring to late autumn, while the high alpine routes are mainly done from July to September.

Part of Tyrol, Lechtal Alps has 41 routes documented on climbing.place. Routes range from grade 3 to 7+. Explore its 19 crags and sectors below.

Often climbed in July, August, September.
