The Schustersteig, also known as the Schusterroute, on the Höher Göll is a classic via ferrata (Klettersteig) offering a fantastic alpine experience with a moderate difficulty grading of B/C. This means it's generally well-secured and manageable for those with some via ferrata experience or sure-footed hikers who are comfortable with exposure. The route primarily ascends steep, often exposed rock faces, utilizing steel ropes, pegs, and occasional ladders to aid progress. While not technically demanding, a good head for heights is essential, as the views open up dramatically over the Berchtesgaden Alps and Königssee. The limestone rock provides good friction, and the ascent is a rewarding climb. The return typically involves a hike down the normal path from the summit, making for a fulfilling full-day adventure. It's a superb introduction to the Göll massif's exposed routes, offering breathtaking panoramas without extreme technical challenges.
